International superstar Ricky Martin kicked off his ‘One World’ world tour in Australia/New Zealand in 2015 and I was super excited to be a part of the Big Picture Australia team providing the video production.
I was primarily tasked as the Tour Video Director and worked closely with Ricky’s international management and creative team. I was to provide live video content aligned with, and complimentary to, the image that has made Ricky Martin a success worldwide. This was a challenging assignment as the ‘One World’ show was a brand new show and the pressure was on to bring Ricky’s flair to the screens. On top of live cameras being fed to the side Imag screens, camera feeds were also being fed to eight independent LED screens that together, formed the main stage set.
Additionally I was tasked with LED technician duties, this involved the construction and maintenance of the aforementioned LED screens. When my LED technician duties were complete I also assisted the team as a projectionist, camera system technician and system technician.
This tour started as a week long full rehearsal session at Fox Studios Sydney. We then packed up the rig and flew to New Zealand for a four stop cut down version of the show, straight into the full blown Australian tour which started in Townsville.
As I mentioned, this was a high pressure project with VERY high expectations of both the Big Picture Australia Team and myself directly. As expected, we all rose to the occasion and pulled off a successful tour, and from all accounts and feedback, the most successful tour the Ricky Martin camp had ever been involved with.
